YouTube asks for a 1280 × 720 thumbnail at a 16:9 ratio, under 2 MB. The size limit is the one people hit: a high-quality PNG export of a busy thumbnail overshoots it easily, and the upload is rejected with a message that does not explain why.

This tool handles both halves. Resize to the exact dimensions, then use the quality slider and watch the reported file size until it is safely under the limit. Exporting as JPEG rather than PNG usually solves it on its own.

Qué obtienes

  • Exact 1280 × 720 output

The dimensions YouTube actually wants, at the 16:9 ratio it displays.

  • Stay under 2 MB

The export dialog reports the real encoded size, so you can see when you are safely under.

  • Add text on the same canvas

Thumbnails need large, outlined type. The text panel is one click away, on the same loaded image.

  • Runs locally

No upload, no queue, no watermark on the result.

Cómo funciona

  1. 1

    Load your image

The editor opens with a 1280 × 720 canvas ready.

    Frame it

Fill and crop to use the whole frame, or fit and pad if the composition needs it.

  3. 3

Add text if you want it

Use the text panel with an outline so the type stays readable at thumbnail size.

  4. 4

    Export under the limit
