Keep going without re-uploading

PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is perfect for logos and screenshots and wasteful for photographs. A photo saved as PNG is routinely five to ten times larger than the same photo as a JPEG that looks identical.

The one thing to decide before converting is transparency. JPEG has no alpha channel, so any transparent area has to become a solid colour. KaiConvert flattens onto white by default and lets you pick a different colour if white is wrong for your layout.

What you get

  • Large size reduction for photos

Photographic content typically drops by 80–90% moving from PNG to a high-quality JPEG.

  • You choose the flatten colour

Transparent pixels are composited onto a background colour you control rather than silently turning black.

  • Universal compatibility

Every browser, printer, email client and legacy application in existence reads JPEG.

  • Metadata does not carry over

The re-encode writes a clean file, so nothing from the source container follows the image.

How it works

  1. 1

    Load the PNG

It is decoded locally, alpha channel included.

  2. 2

    Set the background and quality

Pick the colour that replaces transparency and a JPEG quality between 1 and 100.

  3. 3

    Download the JPG

The canvas is encoded to JPEG in the browser and handed to you as a download.
