What can I do if my browser cannot decode HEIC?

The simplest fix is on the phone: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible makes the iPhone save JPEG directly. Sharing a photo through most apps also converts it automatically.

Why not just upload it to a server?

Because that would break the promise the rest of this site makes. A tool that says local processing should not silently become a cloud tool when it hits a hard case.
