Photos carry more than pixels. A phone photo typically records the exact GPS coordinates where it was taken, the device model, the date and time, and sometimes the owner’s name. Share it as-is and you share all of that.

The reliable way to remove metadata is to re-encode the image: decode the pixels, throw away everything else, and write a fresh file. That is exactly what happens here — in your browser, with no upload, which matters more than usual when the whole point is privacy.

What you get

  • Removes GPS coordinates

Location tags are the most sensitive thing in a typical photo. Re-encoding leaves none behind.

  • Removes camera and device data

Make, model, lens, serial number, software version and capture settings all go with it.

  • Removes timestamps

The original capture date is stored in EXIF, not in the pixels, so it does not survive the re-encode.

  • Nothing is uploaded to be cleaned

A privacy tool that requires you to upload the file first is solving the wrong problem. This one runs on your device.

How it works

  1. 1

    Load the photo

The browser decodes it to raw pixels. Metadata lives in the file container, not in the pixel data, so it is already left behind at this point.

  2. 2

    Choose an output format

JPEG, PNG or WebP. Any of them produces a clean file — the metadata is not carried across.

  3. 3

    Download the clean copy

A fresh file is written from the pixels alone. Your original stays untouched on disk.
