Face restoration models are trained specifically on portraits, so they reconstruct eyes, teeth and hair far better than a general upscaler does. That specificity is also the risk: they invent detail confidently, and the invented face may not be quite the person’s.
Because this edits how somebody looks, it sits behind the identity acknowledgement used by every face tool here.
